MATCH PREVIEW / Brightlingsea Regent (A) - 5th March 2022
Brightlingsea Regent (A) - 5th March 2022
Margate travel to Brightlingsea Regent on Saturday looking to make it nine games unbeaten in all competitions.
The Blues have been in fantastic form since the turn of February, which seems them ten points off the play-off places with eleven league games to play, as well as two cup Quarter-Finals.
Our hosts on Saturday are in stark contrast having not won in the league since the end of January. A 1-0 win over Cray Wanderers on the 29th January was their last win in the league, which has seen them slip to 20th in the Isthmian Premier Division standings.
The Blues travelled to the Taydal Stadium on the opening day of the delayed 2020/21 season and secured a 2-1 win thanks to goals from Louis Carey and Toby Bancroft. In-fact the ‘Gate fans will take joy in the fact that since ‘Regents promotion to the Isthmian Premier Division, the Blues have never lost away to Brightlingsea Regent.
The Blues were buoyed by the news that Sam Blackman and Ben Greenhalgh have committed their services to the club ahead of the 2022/23 season this week, and with other promotion challengers facing each other, this could be a crucial weekend for the ‘Gate.
Joe Anderson could return to the team after being out with injury, whilst the Blues will have to wait to see if Lewis Knight can play after picking up a leg injury in Tuesday night’s Kent Senior Cup win over Gillingham.
Kick off at the Taydal Stadium is 3pm, but as always if you can’t make it then you can keep right up to date on our official Twitter feed @margate_fc from 2:30pm.
