Ten Goal Thriller At Hartsdown Park
Burgess Hill Town made the long round trip to Hartsdown Park and went home happy after a second half fight back.
Margate U23s returned to action after a week off due to a postponed game to draw 5-5 with Burgess Hill.
The visitors sprang into an early lead with a well taken goal but a quick-fire reply from Ryan Lewis and a brace from Oliver Harris, including a superb header, put the Gate 3-1 up.
Another Burgess Hill goal just before half time meant the teams went into the dressing rooms with the score 3-2 to Margate.
As the temperature dropped inside Hartsdown park the second half began at a frantic pace and supporters witnessed two further Gate goals; first Ryan Kingsford forced the Burgess Hill defender to poke passed his own keeper before Omotunmise Akanni scored to make it Margate 5-2 Burgess Hill.
After a double substitution due to injuries to goal scorer Harris and Jardell Conteh,Burgess Hill seemed to find another gear and started to bombard the Gate penalty area.
After two scrappy goals the score was 5-4 going into the last three minutes.
In the 90th minutes the referee gave a dubious penalty to our visitors which was coolly dispatched, and the game finished 5-5, a point apiece.
Margate’s final development league match of the year is on the 17th December away at Cray Wanderers.
Margate: Twyman, J Costa Sani, Corr, Conteh (Amire), Maagbe (Akanni), Mesquita, Landau, Harris (Trott), Lovell, Kingsford, Lewis. Subs: Dobson.
