Margate FC Ladies continued to show signs of improvement in performances, as they sealed a 4-2 win away to opponents Thamesview, who earlier knocked the Bluebirds out of the FA Cup earlier in the season.

The Gate didn't make it easy for themselves, conceding inside the first minute of this league game but regained their composure as the dependable Harriet Woolston slotted home after outpacing the defence on 15 minutes.

The rejuvenated Grace Phillips-James’ fine effort was deflected past the Thamesview keeper two minutes later and Woolston scored her second and Margate’s 3rd before the break after good work from Amy Robinson in the build-up.

The start of the second half mirrored the first, as the home team scored almost straight from the kick off to reduce the deficit to 3-2.

Both teams knew the game was there to be won and neither side held back in this physical game.

Livvy Godden, Lucy Paris, Rebecca Longley and Hannah Russell didn't shy away when a challenge was needed.

Margate started to dominate as the home team tired and were awarded a penalty as Woolston was cynically fouled when through on the keeper, and with a hat trick in the offering, took the spot kick only for the home stopper to pull off a magnificent save.

A nasty clash of heads delayed the game as Robinson was denied a certain goal by a brave block from a Thamesview defender. Thankfully after a visit to A and E both players were given the all clear.

The Blues keeper Lauren Watson was superb between the sticks and the whole team celebrated as Nicole Adams fired in from well outside the area to put the game to bed, her third goal in three weeks.

Godden and Paris both picked up cautions after mis-timed challenges and as the final whistle blew both teams knew they'd been in a contest but it was the Margate ladies who took all three points.
