Folkestone Invicta (A) - 18th April 2022

Margate make the short trip to the BuildKent Stadium this afternoon, as they face play-off hopefuls Folkestone Invicta in the Isthmian Premier Division.

The Blues bounced back from the Velocity Trophy final defeat on Saturday as they overcome Bowers & Pitsea. A win today would see them complete the perfect Easter weekend.

Today’s opposition are in a three-way battle for the final play-off place, which Cheshunt currently have the lead. Folkestone are one point behind, whilst Lewes need to make up three points on Cheshunt.

Folkestone’s 1-0 win away at Leatherhead reignited their play-off bid after they had gone on a run of just one win in eight games in all competitions. The Blues will have to be wary of striker David Smith, who has currently netted 26 league goals this season.

Margate make the trip here on the back of the win on Saturday, otherwise it has been a difficult month for the Blues, having lost three out of the four games in April in all competitions.

The ‘Gate will take pride in the fact that they can do the double over Invicta, with a win today, after the Blues ran out 3-1 at Hartsdown Park on New Year’s Day, thanks to a brace from Ben Greenhalgh and one from Martial Godo.

The Blues will be looking to improve on their last visit to the BuildKent Stadium after they were hammered 4-0 on Boxing Day 2019. The Blues will continue to be without Midfielder Sam Blackman who serves the second game of his three game ban, otherwise there looks to be no new injury worries for Manager Jay Saunders.

Kick-off at the BuildKent Stadium is 30pm, however if you can’t be there, then you can stay right up to date on our Twitter feed @margate_fc from 3pm.
