MATCH PREVIEW / Lewes (A) - 19th February
Lewes (A) - 19th February
Margate make the trip to East Sussex on Saturday to face Lewes in the Isthmian Premier Division looking to maintain their unbeaten run in February.
Both sides come into this game in good form with Margate unbeaten in five, whilst their hosts have only lost twice since the turn of the New Year.
Lewes currently sit 4th in the Isthmian Premier Division standings, eight points ahead of the Blues with both sides having played 30 games so far. Margate will be looking for revenge against their hosts who inflicted a heavy 6-2 home loss at Hartsdown Park back in October.
Margate’s last visit to The Dripping Pan in October 2020 ended in a 1-0 defeat, however the travelling Blues fans will have fond memories of their August Bank Holiday visit in 2014 when they ran out 5-1 winners.
Whilst Jay Saunders side travel down to Sussex in good spirits having improved defensively with four back to back clean sheets, for the first time since 2013, Saunders will be aware that this weekend’s trip will be a tough one for his defence as they come up against former ‘Gate striker Joe Taylor and Ollie Tanner who have a combined total of 37 goals so far between them this season.
Kick off at The Dripping Pan is 3pm on Saturday, however as always if you can’t be there, then you can stay right up to date on the clubs official Twitter feed @margate_fc from 2:30pm.
