Youth Players Handed First Team Opportunity

Tuesday night saw two of Margate’s talented prospects, Rory Sutcliffe and George Adams handed their first team opportunity with both coming on in the second half against Sheppey United in the 3-0 win in the Kent Senior Cup.

Rory got his chance when coming onto the pitch for twenty-one minutes and George Adams played the final ten minutes, with both players impressing during their time on the pitch.

After the game, Manager Andy Drury, spoke about the both saying, “They played very well, it was great to be able to give them their chance in the first team, and having worked closely with them in the Academy they both deserved this opportunity.

Both players have shone through all the ages, playing for U18’s, Academy level and Margate’s U23’s and now have experience in the first team.

A big well done to both players and we look forward to seeing both players and other youth players progressing into the first team in the upcoming weeks, months and years.

You can see the U23’s in action on Friday night at Hartsdown Park as they face Whitstable Reserves in a friendly with kick-off at 8:15pm.

The Academy side are also in action on Wednesday at Hartsdown Park where they will face Whitstable Academy with kick-off at 2pm.

Entry to both games is FREE for all supporters.

The Post-16 Academy open evening will take place on Wednesday 23rd November between 5:30pm-7:30pm at Herne Bay High.
