MATCH PREVIEW / Kingstonian (H) - 23rd April 2022
Kingstonian (H) - 23rd April 2022
Margate welcome Kingstonian to Hartsdown Park, as they round of the 2021/22 season in the Isthmian Premier Division on Saturday afternoon.
The Blues come into the fixture having recorded back to back wins over the Easter weekend, including a superb 1-0 away win at Folkestone Invicta on Easter Monday.
Margate need just one point to secure a top eight finish, something they haven’t achieved since the 2017/18 season when they finished 7th in the final league table.
Kingstonian come into the game two places, but three points behind the Blues,, however, a Kingstonian win would see them move above the 'Gate on goal difference.
The visitors travel to Hartsdown Park with just one win in their previous six games, however earned a credible 3-3 draw away at Lewes last Saturday, before being held to a 2-2 draw at home to relegation threatened Leatherhead on Easter Monday.
When these two sides met at King George’s Field, where they ground share with Corinthian Casuals, it was the hosts on the day that recorded the three points with former ‘Gate man Elliott Buchanan netted twice, either side of a Ben Swift own goal, as Margate fell to a 3-1 defeat, with Ben Greenhalgh originally opening the scoring.
You have to rewind to March 2019 to the last time these two sides met at Hartsdown Park as a Noel Leighton goal sealed the ‘Gate a 1-0 win, which at the time was their fifth straight win in the league.
Supporters are invited to join us in the Hartsdown Bar after the game to enjoy our end of season awards ceremony.
Kick-off at Hartsdown Park is 3pm, but as always if you can’t join us then you can stay right up to date on the clubs official Twitter feed @margate_fc from 2:30pm.
