Angels Punish Gate In Kent Derby
Two goals either side of the break saw Tonbridge Angels take home three points in the Kent derby against Margate at Hartsdown Park.
The hosts enjoyed a bright opening period, Joe Taylor manufacturing a good opportunity for Baselle Aristride to launch a shot towards goal but his effort went over the crossbar.
Tom Beere gave Angels the lead as he capitalised on time and space on the edge of the box to fire beyond the outstretched palm of Henry Newcombe.
The rest of the half saw exchanges of play between two good sides, with neither defence allowing too many opportunities for their opponent.
Margate rattled the bar courtesy of a fingertip save from a stinging Atstride shot from distance.
But it was the visitors who scored the game’s next goal. Coming out of the blocks, Alex Reid doubled the Angels advantage just after half-time, cooly slotting home.
Firmly in control of the match, Angels comfortably saw out the remainder of the half with their great defensive record in tact, as they are still yet to concede in the Bostik League.
