Johnson Joins Margate
Margate FC are pleased to announce the signing of Daniel Johnson.
The 23-year-old defender arrives at Hartsdown Park having spent last season with Dartford FC.
An England C representative, Johnson is familiar with the county having previously played for Bromley FC and Herne Bay and was high on Manager Jay Saunders’ wish-list.
Having agreed a deal to join The Gate, Johnson revealed how the move came about:
“I left Dartford and was approached by Jay and I was keen to come as I’ve known Jay for a long time. He’s coached me previously and I know he is a good manager so I am really pleased to join Margate.”
An accomplished and composed defender who can slot in along the back four, Daniel gives supporters an idea of what to expect when he dons a Blues shirt.
“I’m a bit of a mixture really, I feel comfortable playing out from the back, going long when needed and like to think of myself as a solid defender.”
The Margate squad resume training on Saturday, offering the chance for Daniel to meet up with some familiar and new faces.
“It’s all fun for the players, getting back to reality with pre-season! But it’s good for us to meet and get to know each other as we prepare for the season.”
“I know Connor, Jordy and Swify so there will be a few familiar faces. We have a young squad so we will be energetic, hard-working and a really positive team which I’m excited about.”
