Blues Progress In KSC
Margate put in a five-star performance on Tuesday evening as they overcome Faversham Town 5-0 in the Kent Senior Cup.
Manager Andy Drury named a strong starting eleven, including a full debut for Eddie Dsane. Owen Kallmeier was in goal for the ‘Gate, whilst Lewis Knight returned to the side after time on the side-lines with a bruised hamstring.
Margate controlled the game from start to finish against a youthful Faversham side and could have been ahead after just eight minutes as Dsane rolled the ball to Brodie who fired over the bar.
Headers from Knight and Henry came and went before the ‘Gate took the lead in the 32nd minute as Dsane linked up well with Henry who slotted the Blues in front for his first goal in a ‘Gate shirt.
The ‘Gate extended their lead in the final seconds of the first half as Harrison Hatfull pinged a beautiful cross to Brodie who found Henry ready to tap home for his and Margate’s second of the night.
Drury rejigged his back-line at half-time as Knight continued his recovery and was replaced by Freddie Barton. It didn’t do anything to stop the flow though as Margate took a 3-0 lead immediately in the second half as the new partnership of Dsane and Henry linked up again with the latter to secure his hat-trick on debut.
Greenhalgh almost joined in on the action as he let fire from 35 yards which outdone Simon Overland only for the ball to smack off the bar and away to safety.
The Blues didn’t have to wait long for their fourth and Dsane’s first for the club as he calmly put the ball in the net to give the Blues an unassailable lead.
Dsane wasn’t done there though and there was time for him to add his second goal of the night as he raced through and calmly slotted the ball home to make it 5-0.
Margate will now face Sheppey United in the Second Round at Hartsdown Park on a date that is yet to be arranged.
