Hawks Grab Three Festive Points
Whitehawk sealed three points away at Margate as a clinical second half display secured a 3-1 victory at Hartsdown Park.
The hosts had initially taken the lead after some good pressure from centre-back Ben Swift panicked the Hawks defence and Margate were able to capitalise.
Both teams created opportunities in the opening 45 minutes and with almost half an hour on the clock, The Gate could have doubled their lead through a Frannie Collin overhead kick but Minter showed great poise to get a firm had to the effort.
Margate looked to have carried a brunt of pressure as the clocked ticked down to the break but the visitors managed to grab an equaliser when Goode rose highest to an in-swinging corner delivered in additional time.
Whitehawk took the lead after the break when they executed a great counter attacking move, as a long clearance out of defence saw the ball fall to Williams, who tussled in between the two Gate centre backs to cooly slot the ball home.
As Margate searched for an equaliser, Jordy Robins came close enforcing a fine fingertip save yet despite their best efforts, The Gate fell further behind.
A mistake was capitalised upon by Williams as he grabbed a brace and extended his side’s lead.
As the game reached its conclusive stages, there was no festive shared between the two sides but Whitehawk managed the game and managed to take a very important three points back to Brighton.
