‘Gate Held To Thrilling Six-Goal Draw

Margate edged closer to securing a play-off place in this seasons Isthmian South-East after a thrilling 3-3 draw away at Sevenoaks!

Former Margate midfielder Daniel Duncanson opened the scoring for the hosts after just ten minutes to put the Blues on the back foot.

The ‘Gate were only to be behind for three minutes though as Ben Greenhalgh levelled the scores on his 200th appearance in Blue, before Ibrahim Olutade turned the game on its head to give Margate a 2-1 lead in the 23rd minute.

Margate couldn’t hold onto the lead themselves though as another former Blues player, James Bessey-Saldanha netted to send the two sides level at 2-2 at the half-time break.

Knowing a win would all but secure a play-off place, Margate started brightly and restored the lead six minutes into the second half as Harvey Brand made it 3-2 to the ‘Gate.

With twenty minutes left on the clock though, in-form Sevenoaks struck back again as Kevin Diomande levelled to share the spoils on an enthralling afternoon.

Margate return to action next Saturday as they travel to face 5th placed Merstham.
