SEVENOAKS TOWN: THEIR SEASON SO FAR:

They started 2024/25 with two wins, one against Whitstable Town in the FA Cup extra preliminary round and beat Burgess Hill 3-1 on opening day of the league season.

However, their FA Cup run came to an end in the preliminary round as they lost to Leatherhead. Sevenoaks found themselves winless in their next three league games, losing to Sheppey United, drawing 2-2 with East Grinstead and suffering a heavy 0-5 defeat at home to Beckenham Town.

The Oaks then won two games back-to-back 3-0 against Phoenix Sports in the Velocity Cup first round and Harrow Borough in the FA Trophy first qualifying round. They lost again against Beckenham, 4-3 away from home, but won against Hythe straight after.

A penalty shootout win against Ramsgate in the Velocity Cup second round followed. It was again Leatherhead who knocked Sevenoaks out of a cup competition, this time the FA Trophy. Also in the Kent Senior Cup, a third loss of the season against Beckenham knocked them out.

Through October they played six league games, winning twice, drawing twice and losing twice whilst also being knocked out of the Velocity Cup by Cray Valley in the third round.

From November to the start of February, the form has been hot and cold for Sevenoaks, as they won seven times, drew three times and lost six times, cementing them in a midtable place.

The Oaks’ last loss was on the 8th of Feb, and after that form has been incredible, winning five times, drawing three times. All five of those wins have come in the last six games and going off of the form table, Sevenoaks are at the top in those last six games which has seen them shoot up the table and into 8th place.

IN THE REVERSE FIXTURE:

Margate suffer only their second loss all season at the hands of Sevenoaks Town. Goals from Warren-Hughes Mfula and Jefferson Aibangbee were enough to see the visitors leave with all three points, despite Jordon Ababio’s late consolation.

Just after the 60th minute, the visitors found the goal they ultimately deserved in the end. A poor back pass left Aibangbee through one-on-one and he was able to calmly lob Wray who was rushing out at him.

Things went from bad to worse in the 69th minute when Sevenoaks doubled their lead. A nice move down the right led to Mfula being all alone in the box, with his right foot, he smashed the ball into the roof of the net.

The ‘Gate would do all they could to try and get back in the game, but with the late subs and a bombardment of set pieces, they could only find a consolation through substitute Ababio in the last seconds of the game, he was able to tap home a cross for close range.
