Blues End Regular Season With A Win

A 1-0 win at Hartsdown Park gives The ‘Gate more momentum as we head towards the playoffs!

Despite the early Ashford pressure, Margate managed to defend it and get past the fir st 20 minutes unscathed.

In 23 minutes, The ‘Gate thought they had the lead with the ball in the back of the net but the ref pulled it back for a foul on the centre-half.

On the 30th minute Margate had a free kick from about 20-yards out but Ben Allen’s effort clipped the post and went wiide.

The first half ended 0-0 but both teams had their chances to lead, and it was all to play for in the second half.

Three half time substitutions for Margate flipped the game in their favour, and they were on top.

And in the 63rd minute, The Blues made the pressure count!

Harrison Hatfull found Ibrahim Olutade with an early cross and Ibz held off his man, and then fired into the left-hand side of the goal to make it 1-0!

Just ten minutes after, Harry Hudson almost made it two, his header just glancing over the bar.

Then as the game was entering the 80th minute, Reece Hobbs was called into action and he replied.

He denied Gary Lockyer and Ashford and equaliser whilst also saving a penalty on the 87th minute to keep Margate in front.

In the 91st minute Tyrone Sterling, making his last appearance as a player, was subbed off, an incredible career and an incredible player to have at this football club!
