Margate FC are delighted to confirm the signing of defender Ben Wells, who joins the club following his departure from Hastings United in April.
The 25-year-old began his career in the youth setups at West Ham United and Queens Park Rangers, before making the move into non-league football with Concord Rangers and Welling United. Capable of operating both in defence and midfield, Wells made the step up to the Football League in 2022 when he joined Crawley Town, making five appearances for the League Two side.
A return to non-league followed in 2023 as he signed for Billericay Town, before enjoying another spell at Welling United. Most recently, Wells joined Hastings United in December 2024.
Manager Ben Greenhalgh was pleased to secure the services of the versatile player. “ Ben has a great pedigree behind him & since we made initial contact I knew he was the perfect fit for us, we’ve spoken plenty of times now and we’re looking forward to showing Ben’s quality in the middle of the pitch and integrating him into the club
“We look forward to welcoming him into the group when we get back into training this weekend and hopefully he will become another really important cog in the wheel for the season ahead”.
You will be able to check back tomorrow to read a first interview with the new man.
Everyone at Margate Football Club would like to extend a warm welcome to Ben as he begins his next chapter at Hartsdown Park.
