Margate head to East Sussex on Saturday to face newly promoted Crowborough Athletic in the Isthmian South-East Division.
The ‘Gate travel on the back of an impressive 7-2 win over struggling Beckenham Town last Saturday which leaved them sat 8th in the league standings.
Crowborough progressed in the Velocity Cup on Tuesday night with a convincing 4-0 win over Sittingbourne, albeit a weakened Sittingbourne side.
In the league, Crowborough have enjoyed a steady start to life at step 4 football. Currently sitting 11th in the league standings they have won five of their first 13 matches, four of which have come at home, which means the ‘Gate will be in for a tough test on Saturday afternoon.
In the league they have suffered two defeats in a row, both away from home losing 1-0 away at Three Bridges and 5-1 at Deal Town. In their last league outing at home they beat VCD Athletic 3-1.
This will be the first competitive fixture between the two sides.
Manager Ben Greenhalgh could hand new signing Harry Lawrence his Margate debut in defence after he joined from VCD Athletic on Monday.
Kick-off at the Charles Century Community Stadium is scheduled for 3pm, and supporters should note that the ‘Gate will be wearing their away kit for this fixture.
