Match Preview: Peacehaven & Telscombe v Margate – Emirates FA Cup Preliminary Round

Margate begin their 2026/27 Emirates FA Cup campaign on Saturday as they travel to Sussex to face fellow Isthmian South-East side Peacehaven & Telscombe at the Window Workshop Sports Park.

The ’Gate travel having made a solid start to the campaign after Tuesday evening’s 1-0 away win at Sheppey United left them second in the division having taken seven points from a possible nine so far.

Saturday’s opposition are new to the division having won promotion last season via the play-offs, however started positively also having already progressed in this competition by beating Horsham YM 2-1 before then beating Whitstable Town 4-0 in their league opener. In their latest fixture they had led 3-0 away at Merstham on Wednesday evening, however were pegged back to 3-3 in the dying moments, however like the ‘Gate are unbeaten so far this campaign.

Margate will welcome back Johan Caney-Bryan to the squad after he recovered from injury, whilst Jake McIntyre continues to progress well in his recovery from injury.

With the Reserves in action on Friday night in league action, the Blues have added young goalkeeper Louis Hall to the squad as cover.

This will be the sixth competitive meeting between these two sides, with three of the previous five coming in the FA Cup. In 1990, Margate fell to a 1-0 defeat at Peacehaven & Telscombe.

The two sides were drawn against each other again in 1994, with the first tie ending 1-1 at Hartsdown Park, before the ;Gate travelled for the replay, eventually winning 5-3.

The last time these two met competitively was 11 years ago as the ‘Gate won 2-0 away in the league as a Zac Attwood double secured a valuable three points.

Kick-off at The Windows Workshop Sports Park is scheduled for 3pm.
