‘Keeper Union Remains At HDP

By Josh Cole

We are delighted to announce that both our ‘keepers, Tom Wray & Reece Hobbs, will be staying at The Club for the 2025/26 campaign!

Tom played in 46 games for The ‘Gate this season and quickly became one of the best goalies in the league!

Reece played in ten matches keeping three clean sheets, including a last minute penalty save against Ashford in our final league game of the campaign.

Alongside this, goalkeeping coach, Owen Kallmeier will also be staying on, keeping the goalkeeping room the exact same as last season, building on the stability the Ben Greenhalgh is aiming for ahead of the new campaign.

Upon retaining the two keepers, Ben added: “Tom had a great season for us last season in which was his first full season playing at a club and he was welcomed in straight away for how well he started the season.”

“15 clean sheets by Christmas plus also how strong his performances were in all of the Thanet derbies. It was a no brainer to keep Tom at the base of the team and I’m sure where he is still young, we can push him even more to improve his levels again!”

“Reece has stepped up whenever needed in some very key games as well, his save versus Merstham kept us in the game and plenty of other moments he has shown his improvement and high levels of quality.”

“I’m sure everyone will agree he is the best number two at this level and probably for the next two levels above as well so hopefully he can continue to push Tom and offer some more competition between them both!”
