Margate bounced back to winning ways with a professional 3-1 win away at Hassocks on Saturday afternoon.
Manager Ben Greenhalgh was able to call upon Tom Wray in goal after sickness ruled him out against Ashford United, however Harry Hudson was missing as he served the first game of two game suspension.
In a frantic start to the game, the ‘Gate fell behind in the third minute as Scott Faber connected with a corner to give the hosts an early lead.
Despite the setback, the ‘Gate were straight back at Hassocks with a 12th minute effort saved, before Greenhalgh dragged his side level with a smart finish to level the game after 22 minutes.
It was now Margate in the ascendancy and they were ahead in the 34th minute as a Greenhalgh cross was pinpoint for Kane Haysman who was left unmarked to header the Blues in front for the first time of the afternoon.
Three points were sealed in the 39th minute as a sublime team goal saw the ball moved from back to front with several passes before Joe Taylor rolled the ball out to TT Walters who had space to cut inside from the left before curling a sublime effort past the home keeper and give Margate an unassailable 3-1 lead at the break.
The home side rallied in the second half but couldn’t lay a glove on the Blues who saw a fourth goal ruled for Taylor as the referee adjudged a foul had been committed, however it wasn’t to take the shine off the performance and more importantly another crucial three points for the ‘Gate.
