Margate Football Club can confirm that Kai Garande will leave Hartsdown Park to take up an opportunity with a Step 3 club.
Kai departs the ‘Gate after more than two years with the club, having joined in July 2024 from Hythe Town.
Initially appearing as ‘Trialist A’ during pre-season, Kai quickly impressed and earned his place in the squad ahead of the 2024/25 campaign. He went on to become a hugely popular figure at Hartsdown Park, making 52 appearances during his first season, before being voted the Supporters’ Player of the Season.
Kai remained an important part of the side throughout the following campaign and committed to the club again for 2026/27. Earlier this season, he reached the landmark of 100 appearances in a Margate shirt during our 2-1 victory over Crowborough Athletic at Hartsdown Park.
The left-back has also contributed some memorable moments going forward, including his superb strike in the New Year’s Day victory at Herne Bay in 2025 and another excellent goal away at Three Bridges last season.
Having developed through the youth systems at Charlton Athletic and Millwall before moving into non-league football, Kai now has the opportunity to make the step up to Step 3.
While we are naturally disappointed to lose a player who has contributed so much during his time at Hartsdown Park, the club would never want to stand in the way of a player being given the opportunity to progress their career at a higher level.
